Word-of-mouth is the ultimate compliment for our design team at Palazzo, and this Kirkintilloch project began in the best possible way—with a personal recommendation from a next-door neighbour. Having seen the quality and precision of our work firsthand, the homeowners invited us to reimagine their own living space.
The existing layout was holding the property back, with a small, underutilised study sitting adjacent to a separate, dark kitchen. The goal was to dismantle the dividing walls entirely, creating a fluid, open-plan space that could handle the natural rhythm of modern family life while maintaining an effortlessly sleek aesthetic.
By opening up the architecture of the home, natural light now floods the entire ground floor. To celebrate this new brightness, the clients chose a vibrant, sunlit yellow for the walls, a brilliant design choice that lifts the mood and makes the space feel radiant even on overcast Glasgow days.
For the furniture, we specified premium German Pronorm cabinetry, celebrated for its modern, handleless aesthetic and exceptional engineering. The kitchen draws its character from a sharp, intentional contrast, pairing crisp, glossy white units that catch the light against deep, tactile dark materials. A substantial, chunky dark breakfast bar acts as the central social hub for the family, standing proud against the ultra-sleek finish of the main worktops.
The finer details complete the high-end look, keeping the lines exceptionally clean. We specified a sophisticated black Quooker boiling water tap paired perfectly with a matching black Blanco Silgranit sink, creating a seamless, monochromatic work zone.
The result is a total transformation of form and lifestyle, taking a segmented house in Kirkintilloch and turning it into a brilliant, connected contemporary home.
